I recently had the opportunity to try a fun new product called Peptalash – an innovative eyelash serum that claims to intensify lashes in two weeks! Sceptical? So was I. Here’s the scoop on what I discovered.
By Sara Hodge
Created by Indeed Labs , peptalash ($24.99) is the first-ever combination of 3 clinically proven peptides that work together to promote lashes that appear fuller and longer. According to the packaging, in clinical studies, lash length increased by as much as 43% and diameter by 40% – almost 3 times the volume! Hence why I was intrigued and agreed to try it. I was a bit sceptical about how it works, but since it claims to be easy to apply, I figured there wasn’t much to lose!
What is peptalash?
The product is an eyelash enhancing serum, available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart without a presciption, and comes in a small bottle with a tiny brush-style applicator. Directions say to apply the serum to the base of the upper and lower eyelashes using the brush, starting from the inner corner of the eye working towards the outer corner. Tip: Be sure to shake the container gently before each use for optimal results.
After washing my face each day, I applied the serum according to the directions and while it dried, continued with my regular moisturizing routine. When it was dry I was able to apply eye makeup as usual. I was concerned at first about whether or not my eye makeup, particularly the eyeliner, was going to hamper the effectiveness of the serum, but it didn’t seem to.
I did find the serum to take longer than expected to dry at times, and there were a couple of rushed mornings when I had to wait a bit longer before applying my eye makeup to ensure it wasn’t going to smear. So moms- if you’re using this and your beauty regimen has to be a quickie like mine, keep this in mind and find a way to get another minute or two in the bathroom. What a great excuse to get a teensy bit more “me” time!
So, did it work?
The short answer is yes. I’m not able to verify by what percentage my own lashes appear fuller in comparison to the product literature results, but I would definitely agree that they do look more pronounced. As the product promises, I didn’t notice any side effects from using it and have been enjoying my new femme fatale look. I’ve even started going without my usual coat of mascara, which if you know me well is NOT normal!
How does it work?
peptalash is made of a combination of three peptides that work together to intensify and promote lashes that appear longer and fuller. Dr. Adel Rammal, Chief Scientific Officer at Indeed Labs states: “We used a patent-pending peptide that naturally boosts the pigmentation process of the skin on the lash line. It stimulates the melanin production in the skin leading to a more intense and dark lash line.”
