Product Review: Bissell Little Green

Product Review: Bissell Little Green

With two small children in the house it seems that I’m always cleaning up one mess or another. Milk from a tipped sippy cup on the sofa, invisible cereal crunching underfoot as I walk by…

Some days it seems that they are creating more messes than I can keep up with! So when I was given the opportunity to test out the Bissell Little Green portable deep cleaner I jumped at the chance!

Product Review: Bissell Little GreenThe Little Green is light and compact, even with all the tools attached, with an easy-carry handle, perfect for cleaning up random kid spills all around your home. The entire machine contains at least 50% recycled plastic and PVC –free parts, and it only took about 10 minutes from taking it out of the box to being ready to use. And since you can leave leftover cleaning solution in the container, the next time I need to use it (likely, tomorrow) it will take just minutes for me to pull it out of storage, plug it in and get cleaning! I tested it on the area rug we have in our living room, a very high traffic area that takes the brunt of the assault when it comes to overturned sippy cups, smashed snacks and arts and crafts gone wrong.

Bissell Little GreenHaving never used more than a wet cloth and various cleaning solutions to spot clean this carpet before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was shocked at just how much dirt the Little Green pulled up! Using the Tough Stain Brush with the rotating head, I used it against the carpet grain to clean away the dirt that my vacuum cleaner missed. All of the stains on the carpet were old, but with a little elbow grease the Little Green made the section of carpet I worked on look almost brand new! I had to hold myself back from tossing a fresh bowl of tomato pasta on the floor just so I could see how it performed with a fresh stain! No need. If the Little Greencan pick up this much old dirt, I know it will perform excellently when faced with whatever fresh stain my 19-month-old can throw at it!

Product Review: Bissell Little GreenThe Little Green is also good for cleaning up spills on upholstery and in cars.I’m looking forward to using it on both and extending the life of my carpets and furniture, as well as the spring cleaning of my minivan! Much cheaper than getting it detailed, for sure! No more blotting up messes with a wet towel for me! I can now get a professional clean done at my convenience.

The Little Green retails for aprox. $99 and is available wherever carpet cleaning machines are sold.

I founded Mums 'n Chums in 2009 after realizing that the area I live in was drastically underserviced as compared to surrounding areas for support and activities for growing families. Mums 'n Chums grew popular very quickly and I have been dedicated to nurturing that growth through frequent networking, social media engagement and in person meetups. By the end of its first year, Mums 'n Chums had close to 500 members and was receiving regular inquiries from fans outside of its service area, asking when we would be expanding to serve them as well. After much careful research and polling, I expanded the site in May of 2011 to cover the entire North end of the GTA (from Cambridge to Markham), areas I believe are still receiving far less attention than they deserve from other sites and family services. We also changed the focus from small scale local mom and tot meetups to more of an informative purpose, closing down our forum and adding several talented contributors to the blog. We do still offer several large scale family events per year, such as our popular Birthday Bash events and our Holiday Bash in December. Our contests have also become a member favourite, and we strive to offer amazing prizes from trusted brands like Babies R Us, La Roche Posay, Johnson's Baby and many more. In March of 2016, after months of work spent migrating all of the site's content to a new platform, Mums 'n Chums re-launched with its fresh, new look. The changes and expansion have proven a great success and we're still getting inquiries from several other cities within the Greater Toronto Area, whom we have decided to serve as well. I have built this site and its' reputation carefully and look forward to continuing its growth!
