Teethease: My experience

by Sara Hodge

I have seen Teethease products online several times, but never really gave them much thought, as I assumed they were just ordinary necklaces and bracelets being marketed as “teethers”. They didn’t seem any different to me than any other type of jewellery until I received my review pendant in the mail.

What I didn’t know about Teethease products is that they are soft and pliable, BPA– and PVC-free, and contain no phthalates, heavy metals or latex. The smooth surfaces are made from hypoallergenic, medical-grade, FDA-approved silicone. Teethease also qualifies for EN-71, the highest international safety standard. Colour me impressed. I had assumed they were hard plastic but they are only made to look like regular jewellery.

Luckily for my 7 month old, they’re not! When I put my new lavender Pendant Necklace 2.0 (details below) around my neck, it took him about 3 nanoseconds to grab it and jam it into his drooly little mouth. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for me to do this review, as he also happens to be cutting two teeth.

Since then, every time I put it on, he is ready to (almost desperately!) yank it towards him- which makes me very grateful for the break-away safety clasp. If baby pulls too hard on it, I’m not going to be choked! I think it’s safe to say he enjoys it as much as I do.

Other features this mom appreciates include how easy it is to keep clean, and the fact that it’s even dishwasher safe!

About Teethease Products

Teethease is a Canadian line of wearable teething jewellery offering practical accessories for new moms and caregivers, each in a range of bright, fresh colours. Babies can soothe their gums with soft, flexible silicone donuts, bangles or “rocks”, all of which are dishwasher-safe and simple to clean with soap and water. Made from high-grade materials, the line is BPA– and PVC-free, and contains no phthalates, heavy metals or latex. The smooth surfaces are made from hypoallergenic, medical-grade, FDA-approved silicone. Teethease also qualifies for EN-71, the highest international safety standard.

“Teethease provides an effective way for infants to teethe safely, and offers a fun alternative to a soother or a plastic teething toy that often falls to the bottom of a diaper bag,” said owner Lindsey Sardi-Dubuc. “With the highest safety ratings, parents can rest assured that their children are not exposed to harmful chemicals.”

The affordable collection includes four signature styles that allow parents to inconspicuously wear a teether:

Original Teethease Pendant Necklace ($16.95) – The Original Pendant Necklace, which launched the collection, features a classic design with pendants hung from a cotton cord including a breakaway clasp for added safety. Babies can soothe emerging teeth with the soft flexible donuts or play with it during breastfeeding, keeping their hands from tugging elsewhere. Wear it from day to night in six great colours: black, turquoise, pearl, red marble, lavender and wood.

Teethease BanglesOriginal Teethease Bangles ($9.95) – The continuous loop of the Original Teethease Bangles is perfect for older teethers; they can hold them in their hands or the bangles can be attached to a toy strap. Colours match the Original Pendant Necklace and the bangles are simple to throw on during a morning routine or while running out the door.

Teethease Pendant NecklaceTeethease Pendant Necklace 2.0 ($19.95) – Based on the popular Pendant style, the Pendant 2.0 Necklaces are available in the same stylish colours as the original, along with pink and grey marble. They hang from a co-ordinating coloured ribbon and also feature a breakaway safety clasp.

Teethease Rock•ease NecklaceRock•ease Necklace ($34.95) – The newest addition to the Teethease collection, Rock•ease emulates modern jewellery fashions with uniquely shaped “rocks.” The Rock•ease necklace is safe for chewing and teething, while the various shapes and textures create a fantastic distraction for babies while breastfeeding. Available in grey marble, sandstone and turquoise.

Teethease is available online and at select retailers across Canada.

I founded Mums 'n Chums in 2009 after realizing that the area I live in was drastically underserviced as compared to surrounding areas for support and activities for growing families. Mums 'n Chums grew popular very quickly and I have been dedicated to nurturing that growth through frequent networking, social media engagement and in person meetups. By the end of its first year, Mums 'n Chums had close to 500 members and was receiving regular inquiries from fans outside of its service area, asking when we would be expanding to serve them as well. After much careful research and polling, I expanded the site in May of 2011 to cover the entire North end of the GTA (from Cambridge to Markham), areas I believe are still receiving far less attention than they deserve from other sites and family services. We also changed the focus from small scale local mom and tot meetups to more of an informative purpose, closing down our forum and adding several talented contributors to the blog. We do still offer several large scale family events per year, such as our popular Birthday Bash events and our Holiday Bash in December. Our contests have also become a member favourite, and we strive to offer amazing prizes from trusted brands like Babies R Us, La Roche Posay, Johnson's Baby and many more. In March of 2016, after months of work spent migrating all of the site's content to a new platform, Mums 'n Chums re-launched with its fresh, new look. The changes and expansion have proven a great success and we're still getting inquiries from several other cities within the Greater Toronto Area, whom we have decided to serve as well. I have built this site and its' reputation carefully and look forward to continuing its growth!
