TIDE® Teams up with Carson Kressley putting a spin on laundry with the launch of TIDE® PODS™

A Chat with Carson Kressley

By: Sara Hodge

Carson KressleyIt’s not every day you get to be on the phone with renowned and respected fashion guru Carson Kressley of the hit OWN Network show Carson Nation, and it’s not every day you get to ask him questions about style, trends and how to take care of your favourite clothes. But that was exactly what I got to do last week in a conference call with a handful of other Canadian bloggers, thanks to TIDE®!

TIDE® has just launched a revolutionary new kind of detergent called PODS™- an ultra convenient laundry product that was 8 years in the making (to learn more, scroll down for complete details of this amazing product!) and Carson is the brand’s spokesperson.

With such an amazing opportunity to ask Carson any questions I wanted about real life fashion, you can bet this one was first on my list:

Q: What would you suggest for a go-to fashionable, but simple to put together outfit for a mom on the go?

Carson: “Even though it may sound a bit dressy, I think a dress is really easy to wear since it is just one piece that you have to select and put on in the morning. Wrap dresses made of knit jersey are incredibly easy to care for, fairly wrinkle resistant and they “tailor” to your body shape by simply wrapping to the best fit, despite losing or gaining weight! If you buy a neutral wrap dress it can go from season to season with a simple change of accessories like boots and a luxurious scarf or cardigan for fall and winter and then a strappy sandal or ballet flats for summer! The other go-to Mom look that always looks great are well fitting dark jeans (I like NYDJ brand), a comfy but not too big tshirt and a tailored jacket (peplums are big for spring!). This looks tailored and pulled together when paired with a great bag and shoes. And its still comfortable and easy to care for!”

Another question that was on my mind due to many of our readers living in and around the Niagara Escarpment was this one:

Q: Any suggestions for laundering clothes and keeping them nice in hard water?

Carson: “Hard water not only makes clothes harder to clean because your detergent is less effective, it can also leave mineral deposits or other residue on your clothes during the final rinse. Residential water softeners are an option but expensive and not always available for apartment dwellers, etc. So I recommend Tide Pods detergent – it has ingredients that reduce the hardness of the water making the washing AND rinsing process so much more effective. I sound so scientific!”

Needless to say, the conversation was a thrill, as was my first experience testing out TIDE® PODS™ in my own family’s laundry (and yes, we also have hard water!). I didn’t really know what to expect but knowing Tide, I should have known they’d come out looking great, which they did! I love the convenience of the product and how you can just throw one in, regardless of the type of machine you have, what temperature the water is, or how big the load is. How easy is that?

Revolutionary new product changes laundry for good: the cleaning power of Tide®, now in the palm of your hand!

Toronto, ON (March 6, 2012) – In a world where innovation and technology are constantly changing the way we live, one facet of daily life has remained relatively untouched for decades. Since the introduction of liquid detergent in the 1980s, little has changed about the way Canadians do laundry, yet our clothes and fashion trends continue to evolve. Style guru, Carson Kressley, understands the importance of fabric care in looking your personal best and has teamed up with Tide® to introduce PodsTM – the next generation in fabric care.

“Defining personal style can be challenging for many Canadian women,” says Carson Kressley, celebrity stylist and television personality. “Great style comes from making smart purchases that work for your body and lifestyle, investing in quality fabrics and caring for clothes to make them last. Tide Pods make caring for your fabrics simple, so you can be the one that stands out.”

Tide Pods are a multi-dimensional laundry detergent different from any other liquid or unit dose detergent in the market today. The unit dose detergent features an exclusive three chamber design to brighten, fight stains and clean. Tide Pods are also engineered with a proprietary film technology that dissolves and works effectively in all water temperatures, in any type of washer and for any size load to take the guess work out of proper dosing.

“Consumers continuously tell us that laundry is a mundane, time-consuming and complicated task,” said Victoria Maybee, External Relations Manager, P&G Fabric Care Canada. “For years, people have either tacitly put up with the chore, become their own home chemists, or just come to dislike it altogether. That’s why we’re excited to be introducing the biggest innovation on the Tide brand in 27 years that will help make laundry simpler, easier and more enjoyable.”

INNOVATION THAT IMPROVES DAILY LIFE

Tide Pods took eight years to develop, with 75 technical resources dedicated to the project, 6000 consumers involved in research and over 450 packaging and product sketches. Thanks to a number of science and technology breakthroughs, Procter & Gamble scientists were able to develop a product that would save people time and simplify the laundry routine.

TECHNOLOGY THAT ELIMINATES THE GUESSWORK
Procter & Gamble scientists focused on three areas to create Tide Pods:

Get Small: One small pac delivers accurate dosage and consistent results. Tide Pods are compacted to use less water than traditional detergents, and feature a formula that is only 10 per cent water. Tide Pods are two times more concentrated than liquids of today – making them much easier to carry and store.

Get Multi: Tide Pods’ new, patented three chamber design helps to separate such ingredients as perfumes, brighteners, enzymes and chelants so that they remain stable and potent, mixing only in the wash water. This allows Tide Pods to deliver the Tide clean consumers know and love, even in challenging wash conditions.

Get Cold: A growing number of Canadians are washing in cold water. In fact, Tide Coldwater is the single fastest growing Tide product in Canada. In response to this, Tide Pods were designed with a proprietary new film that dissolves quickly and completely in any water temperature.

Tide Pods are currently on shelves nationwide and will be available in three scents: Spring Meadow, Ocean Mist, and Mystic Forest.

I founded Mums 'n Chums in 2009 after realizing that the area I live in was drastically underserviced as compared to surrounding areas for support and activities for growing families. Mums 'n Chums grew popular very quickly and I have been dedicated to nurturing that growth through frequent networking, social media engagement and in person meetups. By the end of its first year, Mums 'n Chums had close to 500 members and was receiving regular inquiries from fans outside of its service area, asking when we would be expanding to serve them as well. After much careful research and polling, I expanded the site in May of 2011 to cover the entire North end of the GTA (from Cambridge to Markham), areas I believe are still receiving far less attention than they deserve from other sites and family services. We also changed the focus from small scale local mom and tot meetups to more of an informative purpose, closing down our forum and adding several talented contributors to the blog. We do still offer several large scale family events per year, such as our popular Birthday Bash events and our Holiday Bash in December. Our contests have also become a member favourite, and we strive to offer amazing prizes from trusted brands like Babies R Us, La Roche Posay, Johnson's Baby and many more. In March of 2016, after months of work spent migrating all of the site's content to a new platform, Mums 'n Chums re-launched with its fresh, new look. The changes and expansion have proven a great success and we're still getting inquiries from several other cities within the Greater Toronto Area, whom we have decided to serve as well. I have built this site and its' reputation carefully and look forward to continuing its growth!
