Weight Loss Challenge- Part 3

Nutrients for back to school

Keeping up with the weight loss challenge has been a challenge in itself. With the website gaining momentum now, finding extra time to spend on my fitness goals has been near impossible.

To be honest, in the past two weeks I have done nothing– no exercise, no meal planning, and definitely no stepping on the scale!

I’ve been feeling disappointed with myself, at a loss for how to get back on track. Luckily, that problem was solved for me when a fantastic package arrived- the Epicure Selections “A Healthier You” program. This lovely gift came courtesy of my local Epicure Selections representatives, Shari White and Sheri Binsell, who read about the Weight Loss Challenge and wanted to help. Awesome!

Epicure selectionsNever one to resist a prezzie, I opened the adorable box and started to check it out. The literature explains how Epicure’s “A Healthier You” is a 28 day health plan, and not a diet (I like it already!). It doesn’t even shun the occasional dessert, which makes me like it even more. Rather, it is a “guide to feeling better and enjoying a healthy lifestyle”, encouraging balanced nutrition, smaller portions, and staying active. Things that shouldn’t be difficult, but somehow are for many of us. I was curious about how this program could help me be successful with that, when other similar ones hadn’t. After exploring the contents a little more, I understood.

The package, available for about $50.00 in the Epicure Selections catalogue, includes a handy binder filled with healthy recipes, meal planning advice, nutritional analysis, and tips for getting the whole family healthier. It also comes with a“Perfect Portions” dinner plate, divided into sections to ensure ideal portion sizes (probably the main issue I need help with!), and a guide filled with great tips on selecting “perfect portions”. There is a digital pedometer, convenient “Dining Out” card to take to restaurants, a grocery planner and weekly meal planner as well.

Ah, yes- accountability. One of the hardest parts of weight loss for me, now taken care of thanks to my friends at Epicure. I’m excited to give it a try and will be starting now. That’s starting, and not starving , because I won’t be on a diet! I’ll be following a sensible, organized plan, and that, folks, is something I can do!

I founded Mums 'n Chums in 2009 after realizing that the area I live in was drastically underserviced as compared to surrounding areas for support and activities for growing families. Mums 'n Chums grew popular very quickly and I have been dedicated to nurturing that growth through frequent networking, social media engagement and in person meetups. By the end of its first year, Mums 'n Chums had close to 500 members and was receiving regular inquiries from fans outside of its service area, asking when we would be expanding to serve them as well. After much careful research and polling, I expanded the site in May of 2011 to cover the entire North end of the GTA (from Cambridge to Markham), areas I believe are still receiving far less attention than they deserve from other sites and family services. We also changed the focus from small scale local mom and tot meetups to more of an informative purpose, closing down our forum and adding several talented contributors to the blog. We do still offer several large scale family events per year, such as our popular Birthday Bash events and our Holiday Bash in December. Our contests have also become a member favourite, and we strive to offer amazing prizes from trusted brands like Babies R Us, La Roche Posay, Johnson's Baby and many more. In March of 2016, after months of work spent migrating all of the site's content to a new platform, Mums 'n Chums re-launched with its fresh, new look. The changes and expansion have proven a great success and we're still getting inquiries from several other cities within the Greater Toronto Area, whom we have decided to serve as well. I have built this site and its' reputation carefully and look forward to continuing its growth!
